DESFA is actively developing its gas infrastructure to support the transport of hydrogen, including pipelines certified for up to 100% hydrogen. It is leading the APOLLOCO2 project - building a CO2 liquefaction, storage, and export terminal on Revithoussa Island, turning the existing LNG terminal into a hybrid CO2/LNG facility. DESFA has secured EU funding to build a 35km CO2 pipeline, initially capable of transporting approximately 3 million tonnes of CO2 per year (expandable to 5 million tonnes). DESFA is engaging in strategic partnerships on CCUS (carbon capture, utilization & storage) - for example with Egypt's EGAS and GASCO -  to jointly develop hydrogen and CCUS infrastructure. In its ESG strategy, DESFA is evaluating how to convert parts of its network for renewable gases, and assesses its infrastructure's readiness for hydrogen and carbon storage.
